Common questions below. Still stuck? ryland.w.dean.dev@gmail.com
Your rep streak goes up by one for each day you log at least one rep of any exercise. Log every day, keep it alive. Miss a day, it resets to zero.
The goal streak tracks how many consecutive days you've met every active exercise goal. It's stricter than the rep streak — you need to hit all your targets, not just log something.
No. Just Reps uses a 3 AM grace window. If you finish a late workout before 3 AM, it still counts for the previous day. Night owls welcome.
This usually means there's a gap day between your last entry and today. Check your history to confirm. If everything looks correct and the streak is still wrong, contact us.
Yes. Streak freezes are earned over time as a reward for consistency. When a freeze is available, a "Use freeze" button appears under your Rep Streak on the home screen. Tapping it protects your streak for that day without requiring you to log reps. You can hold a maximum of three freezes at once.
Go to Settings → Exercises. Toggle any built-in exercise on or off. You can also add custom exercises by name.
Go to Settings → Goals. Each active exercise has its own goal you can adjust with the stepper.
Stretching counts sessions, not reps. Log one session to mark it done for the day. The goal increments by 1 (not 5 like other exercises) because one session a day is the target.
After you've logged at least four days of data, Just Reps looks at the past week — how often you met your goal and how hard it felt — and suggests a small adjustment (±15%). You can apply it with one tap or keep your current goal. Stretching is excluded from suggestions.
Pulse is the first tab in Just Reps. It gives you a personal daily check-in, a vibes rating, and a focused chat — all in one place. On devices with Apple Intelligence, Pulse generates a tailored daily insight that draws on your streak, today's weather, and your training load. On other devices, the vibes check-in and basic recommendations still work without AI.
Each morning, Pulse writes a short personal observation — typically three to four sentences. It references your actual streak length, current weather conditions and temperature, and whether your training load has been rising or easing. It ends with a specific suggestion for how to approach today. The insight is generated once per day and cached; it won't change until tomorrow.
Once a day you can rate your energy on a scale of 1 to 5. Pulse uses your rating to shape its suggestions — if you rate a 1, it will recommend a rest day or remind you that a freeze token is available. If you log low vibes for three or more days in a row, Pulse will suggest reducing your daily goal or minimum viable rep count so tough weeks still count as showing up.
In the Progress tab, under the Activity heatmap, there's a Vibes chart — a 20-week grid in the same format as the activity heatmap. Grey squares indicate low-energy days; green squares indicate high-energy days. The chart shows a running average across all rated days.
If you've granted location access, Pulse pulls the current conditions, temperature, and rain chance from Apple WeatherKit. This data is passed to the on-device AI to make the daily insight more specific — for example, noting that it's a cold morning and suggesting a longer warm-up. Weather data is never sent off your device. The Apple Weather attribution appears at the bottom of the insight card.
The daily AI insight and the chat require Apple Intelligence (iOS 26 with a compatible device). The vibes check-in, vibes history chart, and low-vibe recommendations work on all devices.
Tap "Ask Pulse" to open the chat sheet. You'll see six conversation starters — topics like your weekly progress, muscle coverage, form questions, and habit science. Tap any starter to send it. Pulse responds using your personal fitness data as context. When you close the sheet, the conversation clears and starts fresh next time.
Just Reps reads your Apple Health exercise minutes to calculate your training load — a rolling 7-day picture of how much you've been moving. This is used to make goal suggestions more accurate. The app never writes to Apple Health.
Go to Settings app → Health → Data Access & Devices → Just Reps. You can toggle read access there at any time.
Training load shows today's exercise minutes, your weekly total, and whether your load is trending up, down, or staying flat compared to recent weeks. It's shown on the home screen and on Apple Watch. If the trend is rising and your effort ratings are high, Just Reps may suggest easing back on a goal.
Yes. The Watch app lets you log reps, check your streaks, view training load, see goal suggestions, and track milestones — all from your wrist.
The Watch app reads from the same shared database as the iPhone app. Workout entries you log on either device are visible on both. Goals and preferences sync automatically through a shared container.
Make sure both your iPhone and Apple Watch are on the same Wi-Fi or within Bluetooth range. Open the iPhone app once to trigger a sync. If training load isn't current on the Watch, open the iPhone app and let it fetch from Apple Health, then check the Watch again.
Just Reps marks streak milestones at 3, 7, 14, 30, 60, and 100 days — for both rep streak and goal streak. You'll see progress toward the next milestone on the Watch milestones screen.
Go to Settings → Backup & Restore → Export Backup. This creates a JSON file you can save to Files, iCloud Drive, or anywhere you like.
Go to Settings → Backup & Restore → Import Backup. Select your backup file. Your full history — including effort ratings — will be restored.
Yes. Importing a backup replaces your current workout history. Export a fresh backup first if you want to preserve it.
Yes. The backup includes all workout entries, exercise types, rep counts, timestamps, and effort ratings (RPE). Goals and preferences are stored separately in Settings and are not included in the backup file.
