June 2026 — Just Reps releases version 1.4, its largest update since launch. The centrepiece is Pulse: a new landing tab that gives users a personal daily check-in, an energy check, and a focused fitness chat — all running entirely on-device using Apple Intelligence.
The update also consolidates the Streak and History tabs into a single Progress tab, adds a 20-week vibes trend chart alongside the existing activity heatmap, and introduces name personalisation in onboarding and settings.
Pulse tab. Pulse replaces the home screen as the landing view. Every day it generates a two-sentence personal observation using the user's streak length, recent workout pattern, current weather conditions and temperature, and Apple Health training load trend. The first sentence draws one non-obvious observation from the data; the second gives a specific, direct suggestion for today. The insight is generated once per day and cached on-device; it never leaves the device.
Daily vibes check-in. Below the insight, users rate their energy on a 1–5 scale. Pulse uses the rating immediately: a rating of 1 surfaces a rest day or streak freeze suggestion. Three or more consecutive low-vibe days trigger a recommendation to reduce the daily goal or minimum viable rep count so the streak survives a hard week. On devices without Apple Intelligence, the vibes recommendations fall back to a set of canned responses.
Vibes trend chart. The Progress tab now shows a 20-week vibes grid below the activity heatmap, using the same layout, cell size, and week-alignment. Grey squares represent low-energy days; green squares represent high-energy days. A running average is shown in the card header. Days with no rating render as dim placeholders.
Pulse chat. Tapping "Ask Pulse" opens a focused chat sheet with six conversation starters covering weekly progress, muscle coverage, goal-setting, form questions, habit science, and routine additions. Pulse answers using the user's personal fitness data as context. There is no free-text input — only the curated starters — keeping the experience focused and on-brand. The chat history clears when the sheet is dismissed.
Weather and training load in the insight. Pulse fetches weather via WeatherKit and reads Apple Health training load before generating the daily insight, so the observation can reference conditions directly — "It's 8°C and overcast, a good morning to keep the workout short and stay indoors" — rather than producing generic advice. The Apple Weather attribution is displayed at the base of the insight card in compliance with WeatherKit terms.
Name personalisation. Users can enter their name during onboarding (a new second page, optional and skippable) or in Settings → Profile. Pulse uses the name in the daily insight, the vibes question, and the header greeting.
Calendar block. Just Reps can now reserve a 30-minute slot in the user's calendar each morning. With calendar access granted and the feature enabled in Settings, the app scans the day's existing events and drops a hold titled "Reps" into the first free gap within the user's availability window. Users can define a morning window, an evening window, or both — the app checks morning first and falls back to evening if no gap is found. No alarm is set. The event is a space-holder: it keeps the time open before other commitments can claim it. The block is created silently on every app foreground and via a daily background task scheduled at 6 AM. It skips automatically if a "Reps" event already exists or if the user has already logged that day. No calendar data is stored by Just Reps; EventKit processes everything on-device.
Progress tab. The separate Streak and History tabs have been merged into a single Progress tab with a segmented control. The Streak segment retains the stats row, personal bests, heatmap calendar, muscle coverage, sparkline charts, and milestones. History is one tap away. The tab count drops from five to four.
One-tap logging is unchanged. The Log tab is now strictly a data-entry surface — weather and training load data moved entirely to Pulse. The core loop — open, tap, done — takes the same number of taps it always has. Pulse is the first tab, but it is entirely optional; users who want to log and leave can go straight to Log.
The daily insight and Pulse chat require Apple Intelligence and iOS 26. The vibes check-in, trend chart, low-vibe recommendations, and all other features work on all supported devices. Just Reps uses Apple's on-device FoundationModels framework; no data is sent to external servers.
Just Reps 1.4 is a free update for all existing users. The app remains free to download with no subscription and no paywall.
May 2026 — Just Reps, the minimalist iOS fitness streak app, releases version 1.3. The update adds a Friends tab powered by Game Center, a second at-risk notification for users with a streak to protect, and a correction to how rep sessions are credited to Apple Health.
The update adds the first social surface in Just Reps — deliberately narrow. Friends is a leaderboard of streaks, nothing more.
Friends. A new tab shows where you and your Game Center friends rank by current rep streak. No posts, no likes, no activity feed. Just one number next to each name: how many days in a row they've shown up.
Streak-at-risk notification. A second notification now fires at 8 PM when a user has an active streak but hasn't logged today. It auto-cancels the moment reps are logged. Tapping it opens a sheet showing which exercises still need reps and offers a streak freeze. The message is unchanged: "Your streak is at risk. Still time."
Widget and Watch warnings. The small widget, medium widget, lock screen inline widget, and all Watch complications now swap to a ⚠ warning display after 8 PM when the streak is at risk — consistent with the threshold used elsewhere in the app.
Watch freeze bars. Freeze days in the Watch activity bar chart now render as flat blue bars, visually distinct from logged days and zero days.
HealthKit ring credit fix. Previous versions calculated Apple Health exercise credit using a reps-per-minute formula, which over- or under-credited depending on exercise pace. Version 1.3 replaces this with a flat 2-minute credit per rep-count log. Timer-based exercises — plank and stretching — keep their accurate durations. The reps-per-minute setting has been removed.
One-tap logging is unchanged. The Friends tab is additive — it doesn't appear in the log flow and doesn't interrupt anything. The at-risk notification only fires if the user already has a streak to protect, and cancels itself the moment they log.
Just Reps 1.3 is a free update for all existing users. The app remains free to download with no subscription and no paywall.
May 2026 — Just Reps, the minimalist iOS fitness streak app, is releasing version 1.2. The update adds home screen and lock screen widgets, Siri data queries, adaptive reminder timing, and a round of polish to the core logging experience.
The update stays true to the app's premise: remove every barrier between intention and action. None of the new features add steps to the core log flow.
Home screen widgets. Three sizes — a small streak count, a medium dual-streak panel with an 8-week heatmap, and a lock screen inline widget. The streak count shifts to red after 8 PM if no reps have been logged. Widgets update automatically on every log; no manual refresh.
Siri shortcuts. Users can ask Siri for their current streak, today's rep count, or their longest streak. The answers come from on-device data via App Intents — no account, no server.
Smart reminder timing. Just Reps now observes when a user typically logs and schedules the at-risk notification accordingly — at the median log hour plus three hours. The reminder shifts as habits shift. Users who prefer a fixed time can override it in Settings. The fallback for new users is 8 PM.
Inline goal editing. Daily goals can now be adjusted directly from the home screen. No trip to Settings required.
Streak explainer. Tapping the streak header now surfaces a plain-language explanation of how the streak is calculated — including the 3 AM grace window and how rest days and streak freezes interact.
One-tap logging is unchanged. The core loop — open, tap, done — takes the same number of taps it always has. The new features are ambient or opt-in; none of them surface in the main flow unless the user goes looking.
Just Reps 1.2 is a free update for all existing users. The app remains free to download with no subscription and no paywall.
May 2025 — Just Reps, a new iOS app focused entirely on daily rep logging and streak building, is now available on the App Store. The app was built around a single premise: removing every barrier between intention and action.
Where most fitness apps add complexity — programs, assessments, social feeds, gamification — Just Reps does the opposite. Open the app, tap a button, log your reps. That's it.
Fitness apps have a well-documented consistency problem. The more features an app adds, the higher the cognitive load, and the easier it becomes to skip. Just Reps treats logging as the feature. Everything else is secondary.
"Most fitness apps are built for people who are already motivated," the developer said. "Just Reps is built for everyone else — for the days when you don't feel like it, and five reps is still five reps."
Users pick one or more exercises — pushups, squats, pull-ups, sit-ups, planks, or a custom exercise — and set a daily rep goal. Each day they log reps with large, pill-shaped tap targets. The app tracks two separate streaks: a Rep Streak for any reps logged, and a Goal Streak for days the target is met.
A GitHub-style heatmap calendar shows consistency over the past 20 weeks. A quiet notification (opt-in, never mandatory) can remind users later in the day if they haven't logged yet. After 8 PM with no reps logged, the app shows a single low-key message: "Your streak is at risk. Still time." Nothing more.
Just Reps is dark-first, using a pure black background and a muted green accent that only appears when something positive happens. The app has no confetti, no fake trophies awarded for basics, no streak-shaming on missed days. The completion message when all goals are met reads: "Nice work. Now go live your life."
All data is stored locally on device. No account is required. No data leaves the phone.
Just Reps is free to download and free to use. The full streak experience — logging, dual streaks, heatmap, history, achievements — is available to everyone, with no time limit and no paywall.
Just Reps is available now on the App Store, worldwide, for iPhone running iOS 17 or later.
Just Reps is an independently developed iOS app. It is not venture-backed. It has no growth targets, no subscription revenue model, and no incentive to maximise screen time. The goal is to be the last fitness-logging app someone needs to try.
"Just Reps is for the days when you don't feel like it. Five reps still counts."
"Not a gym app. A discipline app."
"Show up. That's the whole product."
